What Is Mismedicine?
Mismedicine, a term introduced by Dr. Pooya Beigi, refers to any medical action, whether diagnostic, therapeutic, communicative, or systemic, that results in harm, inefficiency, or failure to meet the standard of care.
Unlike narrower terms like misdiagnosis or malpractice, mismedicine encompasses a wide range of medical shortcomings, including medication errors, poor communication, delayed diagnoses, ethical lapses, and administrative failures such as incorrect digital documentation.
At MARI Pharmaceutical, we recognize mismedicine as a key factor contributing to preventable harm, especially when it comes to medications. By providing free, accurate, and accessible information about medication use, interactions, and side effects, we aim to reduce mismedicine and help patients make safer, more informed healthcare decisions.
